Chiropractic credentialing
in Texas

Texas licenses more new chiropractors every year than almost any state — which means more competition for the same panels, and more reasons to get in-network fast. Here's how the Texas landscape actually works.

The panels that matter in Texas

BCBS of Texas60–90 daysThe largest commercial footprint in the state — for most practices, the first panel worth joining.
Medicare45–65 daysEnrollment through PECOS; Novitas administers Texas. Retroactive billing to the filing date once approved.
Aetna / UHC / Cigna / Humana60–120 daysAll pull from CAQH — one stale attestation stalls all four.

The Texas quirk: workers comp is optional — for employers

Texas is the only state where private employers can opt out of workers comp entirely. Covered claims run through the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) system and certified healthcare networks, each with its own enrollment. It's a genuinely different process from every commercial application — and because many out-of-state credentialing services don't know that, DWC paperwork is where Texas applications most often stall.

What stalls Texas applications

A realistic Texas timeline

From complete paperwork: applications submitted within days (ours: 48 hours), Medicare approval around month two, most commercial approvals months two through four, workers comp depending on network. Full payer-by-payer numbers live on our approval times page. While you wait: hold Medicare claims for retroactive billing, and confirm which other payers allow the same — we advise on exactly this per panel.
